Inviting Durga Ma back

Next

October 3, 2008
The Goddess Durga comes down to earth every year for just four days. But preparations for her arrival start seven days before with a puja on Mahalaya when people pray for their forefathers and offer tarpan in their memory at the Ganga or Hooghly. They also chant hymns and mantras from early morning inviting Durga Ma down and sing songs that evoke the Puja spirit
