HOME | MOVIES Actor-director Clint Eastwood (extreme left), whose latest directorial venture Mystic River was screened at the festival, was awarded the Carrosse d'Or (Golden Coach) as a tribute for his knack for invention and originality. Mystic River, starring Sean Penn, Kevin Bacon (second from left), Laura Linney (second from right) and Tim Robbins (extreme right), is about childhood buddies Jimmy Markum (Penn), David Boyle (Robbins) and Sean Devine (Bacon). Things change when Boyle gets abducted. The friendship dissolves until much later, when they find themselves reconnected by another tragic event -- the murder of Markum's daughter. The cop investigating the case is Devine, who has one primary suspect: Boyle.
