'Congress is pulling us down'

April 28, 2009

Along with endorsing his own party, Azmi made his grudges against the Congress extremely clear.

"If the minority votes are divided between the SP and the Congress, it's the Shiv Sena that will benefit from it. And this is exactly what the Congress is doing. They are giving people money to create confusion amongst the minorities, so that the Samajwadi Party doesn't win," he states.

Elaborating further, he says, "We are fighting the Shiv Sena, not the Congress. In fact, we are helping and supporting the Congress, but they are pulling us down us for no reason. Today the government that is in power in Delhi is only there because of the Samajwadi Party's support. Despite this, the Congress targets the Samajwadi Party -- I can't understand this behaviour of theirs. We only wanted to contest one seat out of 48, but the Congress Party is such that once they get what they want, they forget everything else."
