Form guide: India

Christopher Martin Jenkins ranks on the topmost rung of British journalists who write on cricket. Exclusive to rediff.com, he analyses each Indian player with an eye on Wednesday's key game in Group A against England.

"It is a fifty per cent chance for both teams. Both countries know they have to win the game. Both have started to pick up form. India won the last encounter abroad, and they will be very confident of repeating that feat. England have a new and very promising fast bowler in James Anderson. It promises to be a very interesting clash.

"On paper, the Indian batting line-up is much stronger than that of England, definitely. If they win the toss and bat first then they have their best chance. The stats here don't indicate that to be a big advantage , though. (Virender) Sehwag has not had a big innings as yet in the World Cup and if he does have his day tomorrow, we can say Farewell England. "
