Grenade attack on US embassy in Yemen

Two concussion grenades were thrown at the United States embassy compound in Yemen on Friday, a US official in Washington said.

The embassy is located in capital Sanaa's Sa'wan neighbourhood.

No one has been hurt in the twin explosions that rocked the compound. An agency report said that an Yemeni man has been taken into custody on suspicion of hurling the grenades.

The blast comes one day after US Vice President Dick Cheney visited Yemen as part of his West Asia tour to court Arab support for the US-led war on terror.
