Al Qaeda men flown to Guantanamo Bay amidst heavy security

Amidst unprecedented the US began flying in Taliban and Al Qaeda prisoners from Afghanistan on Thursday to a Navy prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, military sources said.

The prisoners were chained to their seats and outnumbered roughly 2-to-1 by specially trained security guards.

Some military sources said the prisoners were also sedated.

Military officials said the prisoners were manacled and hooded during the trip, and were chained to one another.

They were flown to Cuba aboard Air Force cargo jets, each carrying 20 to 30 prisoners.

The transfer of most of the 368 Al Qaeda fighters in custody is likely to take weeks to complete.
