Top US general meets NA leaders
near Kabul

Commander of the United States' forces in Afghanistan Gen Tommy Franks on Tuesday met leaders of the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan to get a first-hand assessment of the ground situation and discuss future strategy.

Gen Franks told mediapersons in Uzbekistan's capital Tashkent that he met the NA leaders at Bagram air base, about 40 kms outside Kabul.

Franks expressed satisfaction with the progress of the US campaign against the Taleban militia.

However, sounding a cautious note he said that 'it is not time to slow down yet'.

"We will maintain the pressure until terrorist networks inside Afghanistan are completely destroyed," he said.
