No confirmation yet of Bush's India visit

A White House spokesman has declined to confirm United States President George W Bush's proposed visit to India early next year.

White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer said on Monday, when asked by a correspondent whether he could confirm that President Bush would visit India early next year, "No, I can't confirm that."

He added, "We have not announced any such travel."

Analysts pointed out that if the president were to decide to visit India, the dates would be discussed between the two capitals and a simultaneous announcement would be made.
