The pass, which is near the border of Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir, is at a height of 3,978 metres. U-shaped and located between two towering peaks, it is considered a tricky pass to cross. An error of judgement can cost dearly. It is not for nothing that the locals dubbed the pass Rohtang or place of the dead.
