This year there are 21 teams taking part. Each team has nine riders and a support staff, which could be as huge as 23.
The team directors - Ride in cars that most closely follow the racers, dictating on-road strategy.
The mechanics - They break up into two groups, one following the riders and the other going ahead to finish point to keep the other bikes ready for the next stage.
The soigneurs - Literally translated it means welfare men. That's exactly what they do.
Other members of the team also include the cook, the press-relation executives.
