Johnson completes hurdles hat-trick

American Allen Johnson edged Olympic champion Anier Garcia of Cuba on Thursday to capture the world 110 metres hurdles title for a third time.

Johnson, champion in 1995 and 1997, was first out of the blocks and never trailed, crossing the line in a season's best time of 13.04 seconds.

Garcia, runner-up two years ago in Seville, was once again forced to settle for silver by the slimmest of margins crossing 0.03 seconds adrift in 13.07.

Dudley Dorival of Haiti took the bronze in 13.25.
