Six shortlisted for Davis Cup duty

Reigning French Open doubles champions Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi are among a list of six players shortlisted for India's September 21-23 Davis Cup tie against the United States, at Winston Salem.

Besides the veteran duo, other players include Harsh Mankad, Syed Fazaluddin, Mustafa Ghouse and Ajay Ramaswami, an All India Tennis Association statement said.

The selection committee will announce a final team of five later, it added.

The same players will represent India at the November 3-11 Afro-Asian Games.

A women's team, comprising Nirupama Vaidyanathan, Manisha Malhotra, Rushmi Chakravarti, J Sai Jayalakshmi, Sania Mirza and Radhika Tulpule, was also named for the inaugural Games.

The committee also decided to hold a preparatory camp for the Afro-Asian Games at Bangalore, from October 1 to 12.
