Start of Cronje inquiry delayed

South Africa's inquiry into the Hansie Cronje match-fixing affair, which was due to start on Monday, will now begin later next week, according to a report in the Johannesburg Saturday Star.

Judge Edwin King, who is heading the inquiry commission, was quoted by the paper as saying that the full team to conduct the hearings is still to be assembled.

The only other commission member named is advocate Sharmila Batohi, who will gather evidence.

King said he is hopeful of the commission beginning work some time late next week, but not on Monday.

He added he fully intended to publish an interim report by June 30, as previously announced.
