The police have stepped up security in Kerala following the movement of suspected LTTE men in Cherthala.
Police commandos are also pressed into action and the state police is leaving no stone unearthed. However, when contacted senior police officers remained tight-lipped over the LTTE movement.
There are reports of a 15-member team of LTTE reaching the shores of Cherthala in Alappuzha district and following this the state police has been put on high alert.
The Central intelligence agencies have already reported of the movement of LTTE in the state and there were reports of the illegal sale of life-saving medicines to certain Tamil doctors who were based in Kollam and Alappuzha by certain medicine distributors.
The state police and the intelligence agencies had interrogated a medical representative who is believed to be a conduit in procuring medicines for the Tamil tigers.
The central agencies have already tipped of the state police of some links developed by the LTTE and some Islamist organizations and a Maoist organization.
A former leader of the Maoist movement in the state was considered as the kingpin of the coordination between these organisations .The police have arrested certain Tamil people following reports of their movements in the dense forests adjoining Idukki district and Tamil Nadu.
The Tamil migrant population in the state is huge and several Tamils are employed in the construction industry. This has increased the influx of Tamil labourers into the state and sources in the state police confirmed that there has never been a proper data of these persons who arriving in the state.
The LTTE is considered to have given some orders to the boat makers of Kochi and adjacent area and some small boats were even seized from the boat manufactures of Kochi.
