Amid reports that one of the alleged terrorists recently killed in an army encounter in Jammu and Kashmir hailed from Kannur, the Kerala police on Thursday searched a house here but refused to give details.
"We could not confirm whether the terrorist killed in the Kashmir encounter actually hailed from Kannur," Superintendent of Police S Sreejith, who led the raid, said.
The raid that was carried out this afternoon followed the arrest of Abdul Jaleel (38), a worker of National Development Front, a Kerala-based Muslim outfit, from his residence in Kannur on October 18 for his suspected links with two persons who were killed in encounters on October 7 and 10.
Jaleel, a casual worker, who was under police observation in the light of crude bomb seizures in two places here on September 24 and 25, was said to have received several calls from terrorists in Kashmir between Oct 1 and 5.
Jaleel later changed his mobile phone SIM card, police said.
