The new Bharatiya Janata Party government headed by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, which assumed office on Friday, will seek a vote of confidence during the three-day legislature session to be convened from June 4.
At the maiden cabinet meeting chaired by Yeddyurappa soon after the swearing-in ceremony, it was decided to recommend to Governor Rameshwar Thakur to summon a three-day legislature session.
"We will seek a trust vote during the session," Yeddyurappa told a press conference in Bangalore.
"Let there be no doubt in anybody's mind about the stability of my government as it enjoys a clear majority," he said.
The government will not take any major policy decision till it wins the trust vote, Yeddyurappa said.
The BJP government, which is short of three numbers for a simple majority of 113, has the support of four independents, taking its total tally in the 224-member house to 114.
To ensure their support to the government to provide stability it, the BJP has rewarded four of the six independents with ministerial berths.
During the session, the newly-elected MLAs will take oath as members of the House.
