India is keenly watching the developments in Pakistan in the aftermath of Benazir Bhutto's assassination with concern and it hopes that normalcy is restored in that country at the earliest, Defence Minister A K Antony said on Wednesday.

"We have nothing to say about the internal matters of Pakistan at a time when many a problem with them is being resolved through talks," Antony said.

Violence anywhere will be put down with a strong hand, he said.

On a question regarding the difficulties faced by tribal people in Naxal-affected areas, Antony said steps had been taken to solve their problems and the issue was discussed at the meeting of chief ministers convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh recently.

Antony also said stringent measures will be taken to punish those involved in corrupt activities in the defence forces.
