The two sides are meeting again now in winter capital Jammu for the second round of negotiations to narrow down their divergent views on the settlement of the row.
Emerging after the first round of talks, both sides appeared optimistic about hammering out a solution to the impasse.
S S Bloeria, advisor to the governor who is heading the government team that also includes Prof Amitabh Mattoo, Vice Chancellor Jammu University, B B Vyas, chief executive officer Sri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) and Justice (Retd) G D Sharma, said 'the talks were held in a very cordial manner and we are meeting again to continue the negotiations.'
Sources in Jammu said that the only point of difference was the use of correct terminology with regard to the land use during the Yatra period.
While the state government wants to use the term of 'land use for three months', the AYSS members are insisting on using 'diversion of land for three months'.
The AYSS has also reportedly put up other demands like compensating the bereaved families who lost their kin during the period of agitation.
