Telugu mega star will announce his entry into active politics and launch his political party from the temple town of Tirupati.

Tirupati, under the shadows of Tirumala Hills, will provide the stage for the actor to launch his much-awaited political career. The development came to light on Wednesday when Chiranjeevi's brother-in-law and close advisor, Allu Arvind, flew in to Tirupati and went around the city to select a suitable venue for the star's maiden public meeting.

Allu Arvind inspected several places, including Avilala and Tarakaram stadiums, and Veterinary College grounds, but did not make any comment regarding the date of the meeting.

According to a source, Chiranjeevi has decided to announce his political foray from Tirupati given its immense religious importance as one of the holiest places for Hindus.

Lakhs of fans and supporters from all over the state and abroad are likely to attend the inaugural meeting.

Chiranjeevi has himself gone on record saying that he will announce his party sometime between August 15 and 22. But he did not elaborate where and how this announcement will come about.

Sources said that after the formal announcement of party launch, and making the name, flag and agenda of the party public, Chiranjeevi will leave for a state-wide visit from Tirupati itself.

An air-conditioned 'rath' with all facilities has already been readied for the star to undertake a marathon visit across the state.

Chiranjeevi is not the first politician to give such an importance to Tirupati. Another film star-turned politician and Telugu Desam Party founder N T Rama Rao also used to launch every election campaign from Tirupati after performing a special pooja at Sri Venkateshwara temple atop Tirumala Hills.

Present TDP chief and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu continues with the same tradition. He also started his current state wide Mee Kosam Yatra from Tirupati in April.
