Nepal Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula has claimed that the Maoists, who walked out of the Cabinet two months ago, will rejoin the government after the Dusshera festival.

'The solution to current political stalemate in Nepal will be reached after the ten-day Dasain festival is over,' he was quoted in media reports on Friday.

Talking to Kantipur Television at the Biratnagar Airport on his way to his home district Jhapa, Sitaula said, 'The new date for the constituent assembly elections will also be fixed shortly after the Dasain, which ends next week.'

There might have been serious conspiracy at a time when the 250-year-old institution of monarchy is in the final stage of elimination, Sitoula said in an interview to the Annapurna Post.

He said the act of the Maoists to put forth new demands every time is unfortunate for the nation.

'The end of monarchy is already in the final stage and election was required to legalise the abolition. Creating any disturbance in this process will only give longevity to monarchy,' he said.

The assembly polls were postponed indefinitely, after the Maoists had put certain pre-conditions and announced agitation to disrupt the polls.

The Maoists have summoned the special session of the interim Parliament to fulfill their key demands -- immediate declaration of republic and a provision for proportional representation system of voting for the constituent assembly elections.
