Chairman of the All Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that leaders of the APHC are watching the developments that are unfolding in New Delhi with great interest and would like to wait for the outcome before commenting.

"Mufti has been trying to hijack our agenda. But you cannot fool the Kashmiris by indulging in such activities. On the one hand you are part of a government in the state on the other hand you want to follow a separatist agenda," he told over phone from his residence in Srinagar.

He said Mufti has exposed his game plan by rushing to New Delhi to sort out the matter. "He has his own compulsions. He is doing all this with an eye on the state Assembly elections next year," Mirwaiz said.

Asked if he was not interested in becoming the chief minister of the state in place or Mufti or any other political leader, Mirwaiz said that the APHC's basic agenda is to ensure that peace returns to valley and the two neighbours India and Pakistan settle all outstanding issues with our help once for all. "Whether we will participate in the power struggle would come later," he said.

The APHC leadership was the first to raise the issue of troop withdrawal both by India and Pakistan from the border so that the Kashmiris could interact with each other without fear. Mirwaiz is expected to be in Delhi next week. But he refused to spell out his agenda.
