Stressing on better coordination with Pakistan Rangers in manning the Indo-Pak border, the Border Security Force on Monday expressed concern over the spurt in drugs and currency smuggling along the Zero Line.

At a meeting held inside Pakistan territory, both the countries' border guards, however, resolved that vigilance along the entire Indo-Pak border would be enhanced with immediate effect to curb unwanted activities.

Both sides felt the need for sealing the border to check infiltration.

The seven-member BSF delegation was led by Commandant Pardeep Katyal while Javid Iqbal Raja headed the Pak Rangers.

Citing the recent seizure of a huge quantity of heroin along the border, the BSF said smuggling has become a major cause of concern.

The two sides also discussed strategies to make joint patrolling more effective.
