The Indian Army on Monday foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in Rajouri district, gunning down four armed militants, defence officials said.

A group of about six militants had sneaked into the Indian territory via LoC in Tarkundi forward belt in Rajouri from Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) in the wee hours on Monday, the officials said.

After intercepting the infiltrators, security personnel exchanged fire with them in which four militants were killed, while others fled back to the Pakistani side, they said, adding there was no loss of life on the Indian side.

The identity of the militants and their affiliation with any outfit was being ascertained, the officials said, adding that they all appeared to be foreign militants.

During search operation in the area, the troops recovered four AK rifles along with 21 magazines, 310 rounds of ammunition, four UBGL, nine hand grenades, one wireless set, one antenna and three wire cutters, they said.

This was the fifth infiltration bid foiled in the last ten days, they said.

Earlier, three infiltrating militants were killed near LoC in Sabre Gali area of Mendhar belt of Poonch district on May 30.

Similarly, militants made an infiltration bid in Keri sector of Rajouri district but retreated back when they were confronted by security forces on May 25.

Another attempt by the militants to enter the Indian Territory via Krishna Ghati in Poonch district was foiled by security forces on the intervening night of May 25 and 26. An army jawan was killed and another injured in the incident.

Army troops killed two militants in Kupwara district on the intervening night of May 26 and 27 as the ultras tried to enter into the Indian side.
