Concerned over the safety of Indian nationals living in Afghanistan, the Indian Embassy in Kabul on Tuesday launched a Web site that would help non resident Indians register online.

External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee launched the Web site of the Indian Embassy that will also be used for issuing security advisories for Indians in Afghanistan from time to time.

The online registration facility is aimed at enabling Indians spread across the war-ravaged country to enlist themselves so that their security can be taken care of.

Embassy officials said after the killing of two Indians over the last one year, the mission had asked all Indians to register, but so far only 3,500 have done so.

The online facility will also help those outside Kabul to register.

Taliban militants abducted and killed two Indians during the last one year and threatened that all Indians should leave the country.

However, New Delhi has made it clear that it will not withdraw from the reconstruction projects taken up despite these threats.
