After nearly 24 hours after multiple blasts hit Maharashtra's Malegaon, the police on Friday confirmed that there had indeed been four explosions.
Till Saturday morning, government authorities and the police were maintaining that only two blasts took place, one at Bada Kabristan, where people had gathered to offer prayers for the Shab-e-Barat ceremony, and the second at nearby Mushaira Chowk.
Anti Terrorism Squad chief, K P Raghuvanshi confirmed that four blasts had taken place.
"Three of them took place inside the Kabristan, while one took place at Mushaira chowk," he said.
The ATS chief also said that a low-intensity explosive was used in the devices to trigger the blasts.
Raghuvanshi said it was too premature to comment on who the suspects are till the forensic reports provided an idea on the nature of explosives used in the devices.
State police sources, meanwhile, said one bomb each was placed on a bicycle at Bada Kabristan and Mushaira chowk, while the other two bombs that exploded at Bada Kabristan were planted in the vicinity of the compound wall of the Kabristan.
