Anti-merger faction in DIC(K) to return to Congress

A section of the K Karunakaran-led Democratic Indira Congress (K), which was against the merger moves with Nationalist Congress Party, will return to the Congress before October 30 at a function at Thrissur. This was announced by former minister P Sankaran on Tuesday.

Addressing a convention of DIC-K workers who had decided to part ways with the party, Sankaran said former chief minister A K Antony and a host of Congress leaders will be participating in the function.

The merger is likely to be on October 28, he said.

Among those who participated in today's meeting were Shobana George, Maliath Sarala Devi, V Balaram, N D Appachan, D Sugathan, all former MLAs. K B Mohammedkutty Master, DIC-K Ernakulam district president, who has also decided to severe his links with the party, also took part in today's meeting. Sankaran said district level meetings of the anti-merger faction will conclude by October 20.
