Three members of a family and a child were among the seven people killed while security forces seized huge quantities of arms and ammunition across Jammu and Kashmir during the past 24 hours, an official spokesman said on Sunday.

While playing in a field at Sonarwani in Bandipora area of Baramulla district in north Kashmir, he said some boys found an electronic device.

As they were fiddling with it, the device went off, killing seven-year-old Muntazzir Mushtaq Wani on the spot and critically wounding three others.

The wounded have been identified as Mussawir Mohiuddin, Muneeb Ahmed and Junaid. They were rushed to a hospital where their condition was stated to be serious, the spokesman added.

During the intervening night of November 4-5, he said militants barged into the house of Ahad Bhat at Mangloobi Dalwah in the Gool sector of Udhampur district in Jammu region and opened indiscriminate fire on the residents. Four people, including three members of Bhat's family, were killed on the spot.

The dead have been identified as Ahad Bhat, his wife Fatima Bhat, daughter Mobina and a guest, Shameema.

The spokesman said two Pakistani militants were killed by police in an encounter at Phagsoo Nullah in the Thathri sector of Doda district in Jammu region on Sunday.

The slain militants have been identified as Mohammad Ahmed alias Abu Furqan and Mohammad Irfan alias Abu Abdullah, both residents of Rawalpindi in Pakistan, he added.
