J&K: 17 injured in grenade blast

Seventeen persons including some Bharatiya Janata Party activists were injured in a powerful hand grenade explosion late Wednesday afternoon at Doda in Jammu region.

Police said militants exploded a powerful hand grenade at village Tunwa on the outskirts of hilly Doda district where BJP activists had gathered in connection with the party meeting.

The injured were rushed to hospital for treatment. A police bus carrying school children was also passing the area at the time of the explosion whose windowpanes were smashed and luckily no childen were injured.

BJP workers in Doda have been holding meetings and rallies to protest against the massacre of 35 Hindu villagers in Doda and neighbouring Udhampur districts early in May.
