A massive car bomb explosion rocked the uptown Rawalpora locality of Srinagar on Saturday morning.

Police said an explosive-packed Maruti car was parked on the Old Airport Road by militants, while an Army convoy was passing by.

"An Army bus, which was part of the convoy, was damaged in the explosion. Three soldiers have been injured and taken to the Army hospital," a police officer said.

The condition of one of them is said to be serious. The area has been cordoned off by the Army and a search operation is on.

A person introducing himself as the spokesman of the Hizbul Mujahideen called a local newsagency and claimed responsibility for the blast.
