An army jawan opened fire Sunday night killing four of his colleagues before turning the gun on himself at an army camp on the outskirts of Jammu city.

The jawan took out his gun after a verbal duel between two groups of army men over accommodation at a camp at Miransahib and opened fire killing the four on the spot before he committed suicide, Brigade Commander Brig Manjit Singh told PTI in Jammu.

He said the jawans had come to Miransahib from Kargil Saturday for temporary duty.

A court of inquiry has been ordered into the incident, Singh added.
