Asserting that Kashmiri Pandits had their own 'road map' for solving the Kashmir issue, the Panun Kashmir on Friday urged the Centre to take positive steps for reorganisation of Jammu and Kashmir state so as to satisfy the aspirations of people of Jammu and Ladakh, including those of the Pandits.
Rejecting the ideas of demilitarisation and self-rule, Panun Convenor Agnishekhar said such concepts had alarming connotations for the sovereignty of India.
"It is ridiculous that a military ruler who murdered democracy in his own country is mooting the ideas of demilitarisation and self-rule in his neighborhood," he told reporters in Panun.
He urged the Centre to take steps for reorganisation of the state to satisfy the geo-political aspirations of people of Jammu and Ladakh regions as well as the seven lakh Pandits.
Condemning a recent statement by Hurriyat Chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq regarding Panun Kashmir, he said his organisation was not a stumbling block in the return of Kashmiri Pandits to the Valley but was struggling for the genuine rights of the community.
Disagreeing with Mirwaiz's remarks that Pandits' return and solution to the Kashmir problem are two separate things, Agnishekhar said, "The organisation belives both are interlinked."
He also accused the Hurriyat of being responsible for the exodus of Pandits from the valley and said, "Under international pressure, Hurriyat is trying to give an impression that they are secularists."
