Bar dancer Tarannum Khan, accused of running a cricket-betting racket, was on Thursday released from Byculla women's jail after she a sessions court granted her bail.
Tarannum, who was lodged in jail for two months, was released at 10 am after she complied with the bail formalities in keeping with court directions. Outside the jail, she told reporters, "I will not talk about the case as the matter is sub judice, but I am very excited and look forward to meet my family after a long time."
The court granted her bail on Wednesday as police failed to file charge-sheet against her within the stipulated 60 days of her arrest.
Tarannum had hit the headlines following an Income Tax raid that revealed large cash and property investments, disproportionate to her known sources of income.
Police took over the probe after I-T officers and found telephone numbers of bookies and a Sri Lankan cricketer in her mobile phone.
