Four militants killed in J&K

A top commander and three other militants of Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Tayiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed were killed in the Kashmir Valley overnight, official sources said Monday.

Meanwhile, security forces and police have taken about 10 suspected militants into custody in the Kashmir Valley.

Source said a JeM militant was killed in an encounter between militants and security forces at Lalpora Lolab in the frontier district of Kupwara Sunday night.

A spokesman of the JeM confirmed that a militant Qari Zarar was killed in the clash. He claimed two soldiers were also killed and five others were wounded in the clash.

Sources said security forces conducted search operation at a village near Pampore, about 12 km from Srinagar in south Kashmir district of Pulwama Sunday evening.

He said when the troops were sealing the area, militants attacked them with automatic weapons and also hurled hand grenades. Troops also retaliated and in the fierce clash three LeT militants were killed. The slain militants included a self styled commander.
