Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz plans to visit New Delhi on the last leg of his trip to six SAARC nations next month.

Aziz will begin his tour with a visit to Bangladesh, which will be hosting the SAARC summit next year, and wind up with a visit to New Delhi.

"On the first leg of his regional tour Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz will visit Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan, and on the second, Sri Lanka, Maldives and India," Pakistan foreign office officials said.

The dates are being finalised, the officials were quoted as saying in the Dawn daily. Pakistan is the current chairman of SAARC.

Aziz's planned visit to India is considered significant in the context of the ongoing peace process. He will be the first Pakistani leader to visit New Delhi after President Pervez Musharraf's visit to Agra in July 2001.
