The wreckage of the Mig-27 fighter aircraft, which went missing in North Bengal on May 19, was found inside Bhutan on Thursday morning.
But there was no report about the fate of its pilot.
The wreckage of the plane was sighted on a snow covered hill in Samchi area of Bhutan and the Indian Air Force was immediately informed, Inspector General of Police (North Bengal) Bagish Mishra told PTI.
He said a local villager reported at the Mal Police Station in Jalpaiguri this morning that he had seen the wreckage in Samchi area.
There was, however, no report about the fate of the pilot of the fighter, Flying Officer Sinha.
The Mig-27 had gone missing on May 19 after it took off from Hashimara air base for a regular training sortie to Bagdogra airfield during stormy weather.
The IAF had been airdropping leaflets in the area for nearly a week urging locals to bring to the notice of the authorities any information about the plane.
