Indian Forest Service Examination, 2004 

The Union Public Service commission will hold the Indian Forest Service Examination, 2004 commencing from July 10, 2004 for recruitment to the Indian Forest Service. The examination will be held at various centers across the country.

For details regarding the syllabus and scheme of the examination, centres of examination, guidelines for filling up application form etc aspirants must consult the detailed notice of the examination published in Employment News/Rozgar Samachar dated February 7, 2004.

Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's degree of a recognised University with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering or an equivalent qualification.

Age Limit: Not less than 21 years and not more than 30 years on August 1, 2004. The upper age limit is relaxable for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/Other Backward Classes and certain other categories of candidates to the extent specified in the Notice.

Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to the regulations given in Appendix-III of rules for the Indian Forest Service Examination, 2004 published in the Gazette of India dated February 7, 2004.

Number of Attempts: The maximum number of attempts permissible to different categories of aspirants, who are otherwise eligible, will be as follows:

i. General Category: Four

ii. Other Backward Classes: Seven

iii. Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes: No limit

Application Form: Candidates must apply in the Common Application Form devised by the Commission for its examinations which can be purchased form the designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices (specified in Appendix-III of the notice) throughout the country against cash payment of Rs 20. Each form can be used only once and only for one examination.

In case of any difficulty in obtaining application forms from the designated HPOs/POs, candidates should immediately contact the concerned postmaster or UPSC's 'Forms Supply Monitoring Cell' over telephone 011-23389366/Fax 011-23387310.

Fee: Rs 100 through Central Recruitment Fee Stamp only. SC/ST/Physically Handicapped candidates are exempted from payment of fees. OBC candidates are required to pay full fees.

Address and last date for receipt of applications: All applications must reach the 'Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi 110069' either by hand or by Post/Speed Post or by courier, on or before March 8, 2004.

However, in respect of candidates residing abroad or in certain remote localities specified in the notice the last date for receipt of applications by Post/Speed Post only (not by hand or by courier) is March 15, 2004.

Facilitation Counter for guidance of candidates: In case of any guidance/information/clarification regarding applications, candidature etc, candidates can contact UPSC's Facilitation Counter near 'C' gate of its campus in person or over telephone 011-23385271/011-23381125/011-23098543 on working days between 1000 hours and 1900 hours.
