State Tourism Minister K V Thomas laid a wreath on behalf of the government and Ernakulam district collector Gynaneshkumar on behalf of Chief Minister A K Antony.

After a guard of honour by the defence personnel, the body was taken to the Ashokapuram church in Aluva for burial.

The late officer's father, who is no more, and grandfather were Junior Commissioned Officers in the army.

Militants had stormed the camp of the Fifth Sikh Regiment situated in thick forests at Nildori-Pungus valley in Nowgam sector killing Milton and three jawans.
