Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2004

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, GATE, is an All-India examination conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology at Delhi, Mumbai, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Roorkee, Chennai and Guwahati and the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, on behalf of the National Coordinating Board -- GATE, Department of Education, ministry of human resources development, Government of India.

Admission to postgraduate programmes with MHRD Scholarship/Assistantship in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Pharmacy and Sciences at Colleges/Institutes in the country is open to those who qualify in GATE.

Eligibility: The following categories of candidates are eligible to appear for GATE 2004:

A. Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Pharmacy and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.

B. Master's degree holders in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics or equivalent and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.

C. Candidates in the second or higher year of the (Post- BSc) 4-Year Integrated Master's degree programme in Engineering/Technology or in the 3rd or higher year of the 5-year Integrated Master's degree/Dual degree programme in Engineering/Technology.

D. Candidates with qualifications obtained through examination conducted by professional societies recognized by the Union Public Service Commission/All India Council for Technical Education as equivalent to BE/BTech. Those who have completed Section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.

Information brochure and application forms: Application for GATE 2004 may be submitted either online or by post. Application fee for the online mode is Rs 900 and by post is Rs 1,000 (Rs 400 by online and Rs 500 by post for SC/ST candidates).

IMPORTANT DATES:

Last date for:

a. Requests for application form by post: October 25, 2003.

b. Issue of application form at Bank counters/Online submission: October 30, 2003. 

c. Issue of application form at GATE office counters: November 3, 2003.

d. Receipt of bank pay-in slip/completed application forms at GATE offices: November 3, 2003.

e. Date of Examination: February 8, 2004.

XIMB begins admissions

Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneshwar invites applications for admissions to the following academic programmes for 2004:

1. Two-year programme for Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management, 2004-06 (MBA Equivalent).

Eligibility: Minimum 3-year Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline. Final year degree students, completing their final examinations by June 15, 2004, may also apply.

Application procedure:

XAT-2004: Applicants will have to appear for XAT-2004, the XLRI admission test conducted by XLRI, Jamshedpur.

Log on to http://www.xlri.edu/xat for filling the XAT Online Form.

XIMB Application: To also apply online for the XIMB programme log on to http://www.ximb.ac.in

Dates To Remember:

November 30, 2003: XAT online registration closes.

December 10, 2003: Application to XLRI closes.

December 10, 2003: XIMB online application for admission closes.

January 4, 2003: Admission Test (XAT).

An applicant has to fulfill both procedures listed at No 1 and 2 above.

2. Two-Year programme for Postgraduate Diploma in Rural Management, 2004-06.

Eligibility: Minimum 3-year Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, with at least 50% marks in aggregate. Final year degree students completing their final examinations by June 15, 2004, may also apply.

Application procedure:

IRMA test: Applicants will have to appear for the admission test conducted by Institute of Rural Management, Anand, on December 7, 2003. Registering for IRMA test is a prerequisite for applying to XIMB's PGPRM course. The IRMA application can be downloaded from the IRMA website http://www.irma.ac.in

XIMB Application: To apply online for the XIMB programme log on to http://www.ximb.ac.in

Dates To Remember:

October 6, 2003: Request for IRMA applications closes.

November 3, 2003: Receipt of IRMA application closes.

December 6, 2003: XIMB online application for admission closes.

An applicant has to fulfill both procedures listed at No 1 and 2 above.

3. Three Year part-time programme for Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Management, 2004-07 (for experienced executives working anywhere in India).

Eligibility:

1. Minimum 3-year Bachelor's Degree in any discipline.

2. Three years experience at an executive level.

3. Should be born before July 7, 1980.

Application procedure:

XIMB Application: To apply online for XIMB's Fellow Programme log on to http://www.ximb.ac.in 

Last date for applying online to XIMB: December 10, 2003.

4. Doctoral-level Fellow Programme in Management.

XIMB invites applications for doctoral-level programme under specified research areas. Financial support will be available to the students.

Eligibility: Postgraduates in any discipline with at least 55% marks, or professional qualifications like CA/CWA/CS with at least 55% marks, or BE/BTech degree holders with at least 60% marks, or MBA/PGDM (or equivalent) degree/diploma holders with at least 60% marks.

All applicants have to appear for the Research Aptitude Test conducted by XIBM.
