After the baby-swapping incident, there is now a case of a missing twin from a hospital in Bhongir town in Andhra Pradesh.

The Bhongir police on Wednesday night registered a case against a private maternity home for allegedly cheating a couple who gave birth to twins.

In her complaint with the police, M Sharada, who underwent a caesarean delivery on May 7, alleged that the hospital authorities had stolen one of her twins and handed her only the girl.

According to Sharada, the hospital authorities had told her that she was carrying twins during the fifth month of pregnancy.

But after the operation they said she had given birth to a girl. She apprehended that the other baby, possibly a boy, had been spirited away by the hospital authorities.

She first complained to the mandal revenue officer on Wednesday afternoon. However, when no action was taken, she approached the police.

Sharada had earlier given birth to twin boys.
