The police has registered a FIR against Nationalist Congress Party state chief V C Shukla and about 150 supporters for allegedly storming a police station demanding registration of an FIR against Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi and his son in connection with a murder.

The state had been thrown into turmoil after the NCP's treasurer Ram Avatar Jaggi was murdered in Wednesday night. His son accused the chief minister of having a hand in the incident.

Jogi and his son Amit have denied the charges.

The NCP called for a bandh on Friday to protest against the killing, which it claims is the fallout of political rivalry.

The station house officer of Mohdapara police station V K Pandey registered the case against Shukla on Thursday under various section of the Indian Penal Code, including dacoity.

"Shukla, Dr Anil Verma, Pawan Soni, Pramod Choubey and about 100 to 150 of their supporters came to my chamber and forced me to accept their complaint as an FIR," Pandey said in his FIR.

"When I tried to explain that an FIR has already been registered and that I was ready to take their statement, they shouted at me. They snatched my mobile and landline phones and did not allow me to talk to my seniors or go out of my chamber. They also used foul language and threatened me," the SHO said.

The SHO said he was finally forced to accept their 'false report'.

Meanwhile, reports from capital Raipur said business establishments, including wholesale markets, remained closed in response to the bandh call.

Slogan-raising NCP workers went around asking people to down shutters.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made throughout the state and additional police personnel have been deployed.
