Mumbai Police on Monday arrested three accused in the Vile Parle explosion case and produced them before a special court, which remanded them to police custody till June 13.
The accused are Atif Mulla, Hasib Mulla and Dr Wahid Ansari. Atif and Hasib are also accused in the Mulund bomb blast case while Dr Wahid is facing charge of conspiracy in Ghatkopar bomb blast case.
On woman was killed and 25 injured when a crude bomb went off in a crowded market area near Vile Parle station in suburban Mumbai on January 28.
Altogether 11 persons were killed and few injured when a powerful explosion ripped through a compartment in a local train at Mulund railway station on March 13.
About 2 persons were killed and 30 injured when a powerful explosion ripped through a municipal bus outside Ghatkopar railway station on December 2, 2002.
According to the police, all the bomb blasts were planned and executed by the banned Students Islamic Movement of India and Lashkar-e-Tayiba militants.
About 20 accused have been arrested in the three blasts and an equal number wanted by police.
The conspiracy was spread across various states, including Tamil Nadu and Kerala, police sources said, adding some arrests may by made in these states as well.
Former chief of SIMI in Maharashtra and prime accused, Saquib Nachan, was the prize catch for Mumbai police and whose interrogation revealed the conspiracy, the sources said.
