Despite his predecessor Gegong Apang parading 42 MLAs, including himself, before Governor V C Pande, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Mukut Mithi claims he will win the confidence vote on August 2.

Mithi's government was reduced to a minority on Sunday July 27 after 38 Congress MLAs resigned from the party and formed the United Democratic Front, with Apang at the helm.

Speaker Toah Taga has recognised the split.

Mithi says the Speaker's action is illegal as he was among those who broke away from the party.

"Some of the MLAs have spoken to me and my colleagues and said they were being held captive in the Bomdilla Hotel by Apang's goons. They have promised to vote in favour of the government," Mithi told rediff.com from Itanagar on phone.

The assembly will take up the confidence vote on Saturday August 2 at 11 a.m.
