Abdul Karim Telgi's lawyer on Friday alleged that Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal is involved in the fake stamp paper racket.
Telgi is suspected of being the kingpin of the racket but Abdul Rehman told Aaj Tak that he was 'too small a person' to have managed such a big scam, believed to run into thousands of crores, on his own. He expressed dissatisfaction with the probe by Maharashtra's SIT.
He spoke to the television channel after meeting Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani in Delhi. He had sought protection citing threats from unknown persons to him and his client.
He also claimed that Karnataka minister Roshan Baig was involved in the scam.
Reacting to the allegation, Bhujbal told Aaj Tak in Nagpur that Telgi may have named him since he had exposed the racket.
