Tell us your dreams for India

August 22, 2003

'I am moving forward. Just like India'

My means are modest, my beginnings humble, but I am lucky. My father -- a taxi driver -- worked hard to make something out of me. I am getting there.

A commerce graduate, I joined a BSE brokerage eight years ago and have steadily progressed in my profession. I love it. I'm learning new things, adding to my skills every day.

I am moving forward. Just like India.

I dream of owning a house of my own, fulfilling my late father's dream, and making my mother proud of me.

India's progress in information technology and other fields fills me with pride. I love its passion for cricket, its beauty, its people… But I hate the corrupt politicians. They are a curse upon us. If I could I would banish all these crooked fellows.

I dream honest statesmen will govern India one day. And big business houses will help in giving back to the society, like the Bill Gates Foundation does.

I hope we bring more glory to India. We will, I'm sure. We have enough talent, confidence, and zeal to do it.

I'm sure India will be the brightest jewel in the world's crown once gain. Soon.

As told to Shishir Bhate
