Tell us your dreams for India

'Indians have a lot of self respect and dignity'

I am a guide at the Bada Imambara in Lucknow. I like what I do, meeting all kinds of people. But that is seasonal and I don't earn enough. That is why I want a permanent job, so I can look after my family and provide education to my children.

I have studied only till the 8th standard. I want a better life for my children.

My dream is to see my country self-sufficient in every aspect. We should not depend on other countries for anything. I wish there would be peace in India.

I think we Indians have a lot of self respect and dignity. Hamari khuddari hamesha rehni chahiye [We should always retain our self esteem].

Poverty and the complete dominance of the rich over the poor in every field are the biggest problems in India.

What we need most is good leaders and all people should live as one irrespective of religion and monetary status.

As told to Vivek Pant
