Alleged Pakistani spy held in Meerut

An alleged ISI agent, who has been passing on information about the movement of Indian troops, has been arrested in Meerut, police revealed on Wednesday.

The ISI or the Inter Services Intelligence is the espionage agency of Pakistan.

Hasim, who collected the information by calling up the control office of the army and the railways posing as an army official, was arrested on May 24 and remanded to 14 days judicial custody the next day, SSP Bulandshahr Rajiv Krishan said.

During interrogation Hasim revealed that he, with the help of another person named Mamur, had been passing on the information by phone and also by sending secret documents to Lahore, the SSP said.

Security in the cantonment area in Meerut has been beefed up following Hasim's arrest while the police has launched a hunt for Mamur.
