An agency report quoting Nepal's Information and Communications Minister Jaiprakash Prasad Gupta said King Gyanendra dissolved the Nepal Parliament on Wednesday evening on the advice of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
While dissolving the Parliament the King set November 13 as the date for fresh polls, Gupta said.
The surprise move comes amid reports of dissension in the ruling Nepali Congress regarding the extension of emergency rule in the Himalayan kingdom combating a Maoist insurgency.
On Thursday, the Parliament will debate the move to extend emergency rule in Nepal by another six months.
