Red alert sounded in Jammu

Authorities on Wednesday sounded a red alert in the Jammu area, where the security set up around defence installations, sensitive places and VVIP areas has been upgraded in the wake of Tuesday's militant attack on an army camp at Kalu Chak, official sources said in Jammu.

The sources said that there are intelligence reports about more Kalu Chak-type attacks in Jammu area.

All police stations, police posts in Jammu district, particularly in the border areas, have been asked to maintain a round-the-clock vigil, launch search operations along the Line of Control (LoC) and the international border, and to keep tabs on suspected elements, they said.

The exit and entry points to Jammu city have been put under surveillance, the sources said.

The police have set up 12 new check points, seven of them on the Jammu-Pathankot highway, to strengthen the security network, they said.
