Fresh batch of 3,083 leave
Jammu for Amarnath

A day after militants lobbed a grenade at pilgrims killing two persons, a fresh batch of 3,083 yatris left Jammu for the cave shrine of Amarnath amidst tight security on Wednesday.

The cavalcade of pilgrims was provided with an escort, sources said, adding that security has been beefed up in Jammu too.

More paramilitary forces have been deployed along the yatra route from Jammu to the shrine.

The hotel and restaurant association at Katra, meanwhile, has offered a 50 per cent discount for Amarnath and Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims.

This has been done, the president of the association, S K Sharma, said, to boost tourism.
