The Pakistan police on Friday conducted more raids in search of the abducted The Wall Street Journal scribe Daniel Pearl, detaining one, reportedly a relative of one of the three men arrested on Thursday for allegedly sending emails with photos of Pearl in captivity.
The emails, threatening to kill Pearl unless the US released a Taliban diplomat and Pakistani prisoners captured during the war in Afghanistan, showed Pearl in chains with a gun pointed at his head.
Overnight raids were also carried out in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
Authorities are under pressure to solve the case before Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf heads to the United States next week for talks with President George W Bush.
